What a day

What a lovely day I had, all because of one right turn that I couldn't make.  What surprises life has for us when we least expect it.  Rushing always before, this time on my return journey I stopped everywhere, all the tourist traps, scenic vista points, viewed things I hadn't seen before - and captured some magnificent photos which I'll post later.

What a lovely surprise to have such a nice day.  And to Krys and Vera, daughter and mother whom I met at one stop, it was such a delight to speak with you both, share our stories, and thank you for letting me be a part of your day and take your picture together.  And especially thank you to the wonderful Good Harvest restaurant in Crescent City for the perfect sandwich, perfect service and just exactly what I needed today. And the gas station attendant who recommended a perfect hotel where I'm sitting with a beautiful view of the ocean. And the clerk at the desk who made me laugh, and all the people who let me tell the story of how my life changed because I couldn't make one simple right turn.

Mistakes often happen in life, they surely do.  Regret them is what we most often do, but this one for me was all about laughs, about going through doors not opened before, about accepting the wrong turns we make and riding the bumpy ride.  Joy and discovery and laughter are the words for today - and especially surprises.  Like the surprise of the Bandon Inn, and their 'Cookie Hour' from 6 to 8pm.  And if this reads like a commercial, you bet it is, this is one lovely place and I'd never have found it, and here it comes again, if I'd hadn't missed that right turn.
